While everyone is familiar with the 1960′s Rain & Bass version of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, this wasn’t the first time the story had been animated.

This version from 1948 was directed by Max Fleischer who is most famous for his 1940′s Superman cartoons, but he was an accomplished animation director for projects other than that. This version is less than nine minutes long, and is just charming in its own way in telling the story of the reindeer that saves Christmas.

Beyond Tomorrow is a film from 1940 about three older businessman who invite two young people, James and Jean, to their home for Christmas Eve as they have no family of their own. The two fall in love, and three men decide to help foster their love.

When the three benefactors are killed in a plane crash, they return as ghosts and decide to continue to help these two with their budding romance. Although it hits a couple rough spots, the three ghostly gentleman continue to help them.

Sometimes you have to wonder what people were thinking when they gave the greenlight to a movie being made. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is definitely a film that falls into this category.

Best known for its appearance as an episode of the infamous Mystery Science Theater 3000, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is a movie that has to be seen to believe.

… and then you can spend the next few years trying to forget you saw it, but what has been seen can not be unseen!

Watch The 1935 Version Of Scrooge For Free

Movies finally fall into the public domain after so many years, meaning that anyone can do anything they want with them essentially, and that includes putting them online for people to watch for free.

Thanks to this little gem of the law, you can watch a lot of older films online for free, including a nice selection of Christmas movies. (this is also why it used to be you couldn’t turn on the TV without running into someone showing It’s A Wonderful Life, new rules were put in to place in the case of that particular film)

First up in the ones we will be locating and posting for you this year is the 1935 version of Scrooge, starring Sir Seymour Hicks and directed by Henry Edwards. While there have been numerous versions, and everyone has their own personal favorite, but this version is quite entertaining and is great if you just want to share in this classic story with loved ones this holiday season.
