Easter falls on April 4th in 2010, and with the date rapidly approaching, it’s time to start thinking about what to make for the big meal. Well, have you ever thought about turning some of your Christmas cookie recipes into Easter cookie recipes?
While most Christmas cookies are thought of as a once-a-year treat you get at … well … Christmas time, there is no reason why you can’t turn some of them into treats for the Easter holiday also. I don’t exactly remember any thing that says lemon bars, which seem somewhat spring-like to me, can only be eaten at Christmas. Was there a line from the Nativity Story I missed where one of the Three Wisemen brought the Baby Jesus lemon bars? I don’t think so.
Sugar cookies are like a blank pallet. They are only made Christmasy by the shape you cut them into. Find some egg-shaped cookie cutters, or even just cut them round and decorate them with a bunny face, and viola, Easter sugar cookies.
Everybody has their own favorite Christmas treats, and I imagine with just a bit of imaginative thinking you can find a way to apply them to the Easter holiday.
What are some of your favorite Christmas treats you could also eat at Easter?
